Sand Town, Pig Town, euphemizes for dismissed
neighborhoods, scabs on the murder Inc map.
Pick them
they still bleed
retched ignorance and low test scores
Stds and poverty
deaf politicians
too many agendas, blocks in their heads

Tax time, first of the month, food stamps and free clinics
abortions, head aches, white flight
hand shakes down town, and empty mouths to the west.

Landscapes filled with littered debris bodies
cars on blocks, painted veil front doors and black hallow windows
fires in the winter
smoldered in the summer

Young black male, 21 last spotted on the 500 block of Fulton Avenue, young black male, late twenties spotted on the 2700 block of James street, young black male, 25, survived by two children and an estranged street corner, two black males, last seen on the corner of Pratt and MLK,

Young Caucasian male,
police suspect foul play, identity unreleased till all relatives are notified…

Good looking out, thank you. I wrote this quickly this morning and rushed to throw it up onto the site.

this is an excellent depiction of a way of living most of us no little about. Having worked in areas such as the ones you describe for prolonged periods, remodeling houses as well as delivering mail, I can say from first hand observation, that just visiting on a daily basis wore me out. Though I, like many teenagers, thought I had a lousy homelife, I know now I was greatly privileged.
nice work.

Thank you, Saw. I grew up in the middle of PigTown and then my family moved out my last year of highschool. Looking back I'm just glad I left having never gotten drawn too far into " street-life".
