your life

it's procedural
am trying to get my tongue around this
so i can just catch up to what they are going to say next
before they notice
that i didn't try at all
my utility
is not coughing not clearing my throat
always with an answer
i am selling myself
and if they want
to hold balls together
in among the yes sirs
we are on a path together
always other guides around them
we start
and always watchful
a brighter hunger
with stronger legs
runs with us
this puts the porridge on the table
they get theirs
i get mine
sordid true
praying is in there too
but mostly
carrying water together

there's little imagery to latch on to in this poem - nothing is delineated, except in abstract terms.
