Insects in the Night

On golden wing, a moth flies to the light
and flutters in the space before the door.
A praying mantis stands in quiet night
and waits to sneak attack, a patient chore.
A katydid is walking on the screen,
its leaf-like body moving slowly past
a spider web whose owner waits, unseen,
for soft vibrations signaling a catch.
The insects on this porch, though very small,
create a symphony of moving parts,
where predators and prey all give their all
to live another minute in the dark.
A zapper zaps a bug; electric sound.
Inside it, tiny carcasses abound.

A praying mantis or a katydid generally isn't "very small."  The poem also seems enslaved by its rhyme.
