Public disclaimer- I- david eberhardt- was one of the readers- so, naturally, I am biased, prejudiced, etc.etc. (were we fabulous and amazing and terrific- u betcha)
Christopher George- who is often on PIB- was the M C for this reading of poets who have published in the Loch Raven Review- an online and in print version- the latest of which- (Fall, 2009) is now available from Amazon and Lulu. Chris is an editor of the Loch Raven and the two other editors- Dan Cuddy and Jim Doss were present and reading their poetry. Some 20 + spectators were in attendance from 2- 5 PM at the UKAZOO Book Store in Towson, Md.
Follows a partial list of readers -  Chris, Dan and Jim, Clarinda Harriss, Reginald Harris, Nulty Lynch, Danuta Kosk-Kosicka,  Michael Salcman, Mike Monroe, Mike McGuire, Caryn Coyle, me; impressions?- a good mix of styles- none bad, some immortal geniuses (genii?)-lv u to guess who- not me.- most likely Dr. Salcman.
I believe that the Loch Raven Review- in both its guises- on line and in print- is one of the premier Baltimore literary "venues"! The editors stated that they print abt 20 %- or was it less- of the material submitted- and that- as i remember- they get some 200+ submissions per issue? The Review publishes interviews, reviews, poetry and translations.

having a bit more time-the following comes to mind: Clarinda Harriss ending a poem addressing herself- bold and xtremely moving- Ms. Danuta read poems in her native Polish and then the English equivalent- very nice poem to her husband who was present this day before Valentine's- Ms Caryn Coyle - heart stopping prose abt her fighter pilot father-Chris George abt his mum-plus I love Chris's references to the Anacostia- which he sees during his morning commute- those herons and egrets must b a balm of a site- Dan Cuddy bringing the funnies in- also deep- Dr. Salcman w startling poems from his E R experience- gripping- his work has a classical bent- but-it cuts deep not just in a medical way- his wife also present-the great Alan Reese declining to read- a statement within itself- such modesty from a heavy hitter-my girl friend was there- (don't ya jes luv non traditional revues?)

but this is Baltimore- we're informal, we're funky, we're in yer face- I did have the thot- none of us cld compare to the recently departed David Franks- but then

his was a special kettle of fish was it not?

Hello Dave

Great review, Dave, fair, impressionistic. . .

So good to hold the reading after Baltimore for a whole week beforehand had been snowed and iced in.  I hear we were the first performers/artistes to do our thing in Ukazoo's performance space in a week!!!! Nice then also that we were able to field a full slate of writers and get such a nice reaction.  I agree 100% at the quality of the work, and would say that it is the quality that we try to emphasize at Loch Raven Review whether we are publishing the best local writers, as we aim to do, or the best of scribes worldwide.

Now on to the Town and Gown reading at Barnes and Noble, Charles Street on Thursday night, where a number of the same talented readers, as well as some other strong writers from JHU and Loyola and Charles Village will feature!  Should be a great one!!!

All my best

Chris
