cloy thursday begets
blackphemous friday...but there
on the boulevard,
the dream gauntlet floats hopes' re-
pair, despair zygoate ("I'm just

the beard!"), like panning
spriggys' spanned masstonishments,
ooh's-aahs eyes surprise?
like the foul cordon-off blue
jack alert, marshall parade

but, keep 'em be'azzled
lively deadicated wit-
nessless to phalanx-
giving, helium voices
micro waves & halogen

smiles masking, nukes in
eidolon nikes, like a
mardi fois gras, as
mummers-the-word...
comes the inflated jesus

hovered, floating as
awatered watching all the
fish go by...the bluff
insantaty of It all,
an'more right falls off the Earth!

may as well add consumerism to the list of deleterious isms that really took off in the 20th century.. yes, we've built up quite a machine, haven't we?  seems to be teetering a bit, but maybe that's temporary..

the "insantaty of It all"... ha.

Nazz - My apology for the delay in responding; welcome to the mini-throng whom jazzed on "insantaty," consumerism IS the machine which runs the machine, are we "teetering?" depends on the subjective evaluation re: brink, recovery, discovery, sinkhole, stink!  TY, H.e.m./H'H.

"the dream gauntlet held before his eyes"?
the eyes of Andre Chenier before the blade

the french poet  before the revolutionary tribunal
accused of  writing against freedom by fouquier-tinvillle

as he steps upon the cart to the guillotine
begins reciting verses from Racine!

from "Andromaque"- at the place de vincennes-
then called the barriere renversee. My friends?

the "dream gauntlet" was the blade itself- like other human inventions
meant to b humane- an improvement  to the strangulation

of hanging-and yes, in the twinkling of an eye,
an eye blink you are gone!!

Monsieur Guillotine, step forth, yr. gauntlet has thrown down
w Kalashnikov, Colt 45-Winchester,  Oppenheimer's dred machine-

The instruments of death? who made them all the same
But us- us thinking we'd advanced w good intentions!

We march backwards to the grave, we men, no contravention-
And on our tombstone let this killing be our shame.

DE - At the outset, I am awaiting notification from Julie as to the status/reparation of my erstwhile post.  So, you again, happily, challenge my literary mettle:

from "Andromaque"- at the place de vincennes-
then called the barriere renversee. My friends?

the "dream gauntlet" was the blade itself- like other human inventions
meant to b humane- an improvement  to the strangulation

Citizen? Robespierre? Septembrists?  How many ways...my thoughts have always been to the ingenuity of violence's methodologies, should that energy be applied elsewhere, oh, the paradisaicals!

Do you know my piece, "Shame?" (http://poetryinbaltimore.com/smf/index.php?topic=18438.0)
