Blaine, I think we agree on most points.

I'd love to hear other views. For me Haro's work intrigues because it has brilliant moments. It is certainly not traditional or conventional. I can read one or two poems at a time. It is work reading the poems. This is not Billy Collins (who I like though he is dismissed in some circles as a populist). Haro's work reveals and evades. It twists like a moblile. It shimmers like an exploded 4th of July firework. It is an alien tongue though very much our own. It is an improvisation, or appears to be, but it is scored. Sometimes there are flat notes or keys accidentally hit. Sometimes the sinuous twist of music possesses the inner eye.

Anyway, the poems are worth investigating.

Dan, i think that what i object to in the poem as possibly being flat notes, may not really be flat notes, but rather it is matter of i can't hear the music.

i have not read all the comments- but probably will- the poem stands as it is

also- had the poet printed a complete guide to it- that would be ok as well

either way

eliot's notes to "The Waste Land" did not detract in the slightest- the more a poem can be "made plain" the better

but i still like it as is

Hello, All, & TY Julie - I have been Writing in the wings, & by the grace or misfortune of personal circumstances was unavailable to pursue - chronologically - my earlier attempts at replies/responses to comments, i.e. T.I.S., when, voila! comes this marvelous, tsunamic-flow...  So, though my time is yet-parceled, I feel incumbent (not incumbrant) to speak to you, the Poem, succinctlaconically:

At the outset, It was my intention to Post simultaneously to both Poetry boards, in that the keys to each Poem reside with the other; yet, surprisingly, "Mandata (Muthuh)" was left (thus far) to fallow, i.e., the sadnesses of both fly in tandem.

The "mystery" of "Jessedressy," though I am intrigued by the varied interpretations, was explicated early into my comments, & so begs the question, was this ignored, or serendipitously passed-over?

Nothing, as I have said before, ever leaves casually from my Pen!; to wit, if & when there are, "mistakes" are dispatched in an equally, timely manner, though admittedly, some of my most treasured portrayals have been "typos," which I lovingly acknowledge & attribute to speaking/guidances of the Muse.

I am about Words' twists 'n turns, therefore a progenitor of Prosetry.

"rubiauburn caracol" is (if one peers closely) an invention/portmanteau/language bridge = curls of auburn-red (tho' T.I.S. your elements of "dressage" are both astute & poignant).

As a Poet/Writer my intent, first & foremost, is communication; but further, to incite (lol) the Reader to think in unprecedented ways, investigate his own processes/views of Morlde, attempt to alter the paradigm.  To wit, I am assuredly not about tangles & Wordmazes (if they be) simply for celebration's sake to amaze.  I must conclude you all are aware to this dynamic, witness what I am attempting to response, crit.>crit.  For me, doggerel has no bark, I am an aesthete; & wikiPoems do little - though valued for research - but to didactically inform.

Make no misstep, here; I am jazzed by what this seemingly, simple Piece has engendered; "MH" are my initials reversed, the Poem(s) was Posted on Mother's Day, you might extrapolate/intuit the remainder, as you need...she was just a girl...

I shall return with unpattons -

TY, T.I.S.
TY, all -

Humbly,
H'H./H.e.m.

1- I want to hip haro to the Hawaiian word "heieau" (undoubetedly not the right spelling but close) (you can keep googling it til it comes up)- which means a sacred place- where rituals were performed

the big island has several near the shore- Capt. Cook observed them- sacrifices were made

2- w both Hart Crane and Wallace Stevens- difficulty or obscurity (started by Eliot pretty much altho also the French) (Rimbaud)  in poems reached a wonderful level

We can write stuff like "Twinkle, twinkle, little star" (how about ? "twinkle- tinkle" (porn reference?) until we're blue in the face and if it is absurd then no one will listen- the thing abt. haro's stuff is the music and suggestability of it that draws us further-

and why was I suddenly kicked off and must now "reply" to continue?

anyway- what I was saying is- I want Haro to make himself plainer and mix the oddball stuff in so that he can get a mass audience- otherwise- it is just us "cognoscenti" (Dino take note)  who are going to love his stuff

I don't like John Asberry becuz his stuff is obscure w no redeeming factor- like sound- Haor is a hundred times better. So why isn't Haro featured and getting prizes.

I want to see Haro on Regis and Philbin (I mean Regis and ?)- no- I want to see Haro on Maury Povich (just kidding)

but seriously- Dino and Dan take note:

"Twinkle, tinkle little star...
How I wonder how Annie Sprinkle* are?"

I once saw her and her twat.
How she took such joy in "squat".

Now I'm wondering what man likes?
To be peed on- tell me phsykes?

Hello Dave (again) - Well, this is surely a humbling celebration of my Work, indeed; so at the outset, TY.  Heiaus is the sacred Hawaiian place to which you refer; you mention Hart Crane, Rimbaud (a favorite), and Eliot (both a influence and a nemesis) but Wallace Stevens is the prototype for the manner (command) in which Poetry ought be composed.  Let's be quite frank, here:  I Write for ME, 1st., but not foremost.  My Work has been likened as "Rhyming Prosetry Puzzles," & yes, I do Write to achieve/garner a wider audience for my messages...This is not justification to noticeably alter my approach nor Style; those whom will Read & appreciate my Work will do so upon the terms with which they are proffered; for the remainder (& I conjecture most), if they will care to stretch, intuiting something, a there-there to stretch to & into, they profit.  To liken me to (& beyond) John Ashbery is a tall, bold statement, for the mere mention of him in regard to my Work is humbling, make not this mistake!  Yes, I surely would welcome the laudits & plaudits for what I do...only lately I was remarking to a dear friend Poet/Artist, "I consider myself a Major-Minor Poet," in the sense I remain "unheralded" in the context to which you refer (It would be a hoot to Read/be Read on Oprah - look what happened to Matty Stepanek - & a Pulitzer/Nobel might be equally as delicious - lol - personally, Billy  Collins' bores me, after a time).  So, is there anyone out there, with clout , listening?  No matter, truly; I Love what I do, am pleased others respond in kind, & secure in the knowledge of what I do I do well...  Please continue to do the appreciation as you have, I'll be more-than-jazzed to deliver & respond -   H'H./H.e.m.
