In addition, we've tweaked our breakout session format a little to include more "craft lectures" (presentations by a single expert on a specific topic), including Ed Perlman's famed Sentence Power presentation, as well as sessions on "Fighting Writer’s Block with Play and Experimental Prompts (by Matt Kirkpatrick, FC2 and Barrelhouse), When to Ignore Workshop Advice (by JT Barbarese, poet and editor of StoryQuarterly), and Writing Sex Scenes (by Zachary Benividez, Montgomery College, and Tom Mayes, University of Maryland). In addition, we've got panels on the novel, agents, money for writers, flash fiction, online publishing, creative nonfiction, and contests. Panelists include folks from some of the most well respected and cutting edge literary magazines, presses, and organizations going, including (in no particular well respected or cutting edge order, other than alphabetical) 32 Poems, Barrelhouse, Baltimore Review, Blackbird, Entasis Press, Failbetter, FC2, Gettysburg Review, Keyhole, No Tell Motel, Publishing Genius, Smartish Pace, Storyquarterly, Twelve Stories, and more more more. Whew.
Registration is $55, and that includes a book (from one of our panelists), subscription to a lit mag, one ticket to speed dating, and the whole day conference. A note about speed dating: you either hate it or love it, and this year, as always, we'll be working to make sure it runs as smoothly as possible. We'll have each genre in a different location to ensure that you get a chance to speak with an editor who can give you the best possible feedback on your work (poetry editors reading poetry, etc).
