Have the royalties arrived like I promised? Mine are trickling in n' I'm having a poetry/rock/ panty concert in Catonsville to benefit unpaid poets. Hope yer make it! THIS IS BARDY'S PROSE POEM FOR THE DAY.

dear mr. poet,
when are you going to write some real poetry - you know - stuff that rhymes, with trochees, anapests, and all the trimmings? show some craft - you free verse vagrant!

dear bardy dime,
where i come from a rhyme is a crime - why have a lemon when you can have a lime? sure, a lemon isn't bad now and then, and a lime is sublime only half the time, but, and i say but, a nickel is never a dime - even if it rhymes. i say thank you - come again!

dear fanny mcfanny,
yes, i am the best - and i will now proceed to tell you why. there's not a form i can't handle - sonnets, seXtinas, villainelleskis, quadroons, macaroons, limericks, rhyming, free verse, blank verse, obverse, and reverse. doesn't matter - i can do it all. and i'll tell you one more thing, and i think it shall be a thing accomplished - and to my mind, it already has ! i can be funny or serious; i can do dialects, idioms - i can rhyme in a dozen languages - living or dead. there's not a poet in baltimore - or the western hemisphere - that has my versatility, talent, depth, and intelligence. everybody knows it - it's not just me. are there any other mr. poets hanging around? i'm not just the best - i'm double, maybe even triple best. remember that next time before you demean me with inadequate praise.

mr. poet

Dear Mr Poet, Has anyone ever written a poem titled, "Short", or, " Did I leave my socks on Jupiter?"?

dear skinny whippet,
my opinions are not opinions - they are facts. the greatest poet who ever lived... hmmm... let me think for a minute. homer wasn't bad - a one trick pony, but still worth reading. saffron of lesbos wrote some good stuff - especially for a sexual deviant. i suspect that you already know who the greatest poet is - and i respect you for both your discretion and discernment. i'm a modest man and have trouble dealing with fawning admiration - even when deserved.

dear otto the grecian urn,
the worst poet who ever lived or is still alive - but still the worst; an intriguing query, but one that is quite within my realm of expertise. francis scott key was pretty lame - and the guy who writes the lyrics for journey is pretty bad too. can't go wrong picking either... i'm going with the guy from journey.

dear mr. poet,
good call. i was tempted to go with keats, but yeah, journey is some pretty mind-numbing, fingernail-scratching stuff, for sure . . .
