Dear Mr. Poet:

Yesterday, I realized I was in quite a pickle. I am suffering from smilie addiction. I didn't realize how serious it was until some friends physically pulled me off my chair and away from the computer and cornered me in the kitchen to confront me about it. I told them I could stop whenever I wanted. Because I truly thought I could but as soon as they left, I went straight back to it. It's become quite obvious that my smilie addiction is a detriment.

I wrote my smilies a letter to break off the relationship.

But it didn't work. They won't go away.

I've even gone so far as to do this

But still, it didn't work. Nothing works. The smilies are plaguing me! It's driving me crazy!

What can I do? Please help me!

Signed,

Smilie Addict

dear smilie addict, the latest research on smilie addiction should give you the hope you so desperately need. studies indicate that shock aversion therapy is producing profound effects. wire yourself up to a doorbell apparatus and connect wire to a battery of high voltage. when you see a smilie or have the urge to do so - press button.

dear mr. poet,
do you know why our purple poem lost to that mighty giant today? could it have been a bad case of senility set in, and they just ended up in the wrong forum? you're welcome, greek historian

Dear Mr. Poet:

How many poets does it take to screw in a light bulb?

Signed,

dear curious,

not as silly a question as you might think. the leyden study of 1922 shed some illumination on this oft speculated postulation. it was determined that only one poet was needed if the poet wrote in free verse ; two, if they used rhyme.

as always, mr. poet
