Pluto ruled the underworld
with an iron pitchfork
just like the plutocrats,
but my wealth is in my imagination.

Let's compare our favorite dead languages
'til a sticky substance
that's more than just fermented honey,
oozes from our veiled history.

Come, revel in the architecture
of language, its dialectical character
while we build anglo saxon halls
on the foundations of withered roman villas,

whose mosaic tiles are the cliometric clues
of linguistic archeology singing like birds
in foreign languages ....the neo-hymns
of pantheistic revelation ...written in choir books

the size of the universe.

anglo-saxon halls on the foundations of roman villas - nice metaphor for the english language. by cliometric, i take it you mean the muse of history within a historical linguistic context - or not!! the definition is different (i looked it up!) sharp stuff steve. gotta hit the tequila myself - hard!

I had to google Jose Cuervo---that's embarrassing admitting that----and I say "aha". I'll have to read this again tomorrow.

Interesting at first reading.

I read a work of Carlos' as a young man, saw, a suggestion I believe from a philosophy instructor. Enjoyed it immensely, will go back and read it again.

The fourth line is what one would walk away with after reading his works. Bountiful work here on the art, and history of language. This is fine work, Maistro, and the last two, ahhhhh...
