Three Poems
DEDICATION
To Emily Dickinson
--------------------
1
My wealth is in burnished gold
In these hands I cannot hold
The long sunset of my life
Losing fortune, son and wife
2
Regret is a bird of prey
Of the carrion-feeding variety
Not always good to look at
Better left for vulture repast
3
Hope is a daydream of sunrise
From our frigid, frightening times
Frozen snows soiled before our eyes
A switch when Dark strikes our wind-chimes

Immensely enjoyed all three, DEO. It's good to see you back on PIB, my friend.

Thanks for the reading, and especially the comments. Hey, hey Mike! I know Bardmaster has been living up to the famous Bards' reputation in his own way. Congrats!

I missed being here--some travel, some work, same confusion. Julie helped me retrieve my password and the New Year is rolling on. Thanks much. A> Neil

nice reads, deo, welcome back, poets tend to be nomadic, but often walk in the same circles from time to time...
I especially enjoyed # 2...a "healthy" way to view regret

I want to welcome you too. Good to see you back.

"Hope is a daydream of sunrise"-----I like that line. It speaks in a lot of ways and not all of them are despairing, though the poem as a whole doesn't give warmth a place to stay.

I find the first poem really sad.

Saw and theIrishSea, I loved it that you both are still at the craft. That is inspiring to me.

I agree with most of the observations... and even when the only wealth I own is the sunset I cannot hold, the hope IS that there will be more sunrises and sunsets. Who is to say if that wealth is not more lasting than gold....I just ponder this when all my hard work makes me less than a kid does with his skill with trading stocks )(though I sleep better and keep my conscience alive). I am about to post a morehopeful sonnet of sorts...working on the FORM still...relating ot ML KING Holiday. Shalom/peace/paz/pace/SHANTHI AUM.
