Perants

Dressed in a baggy jean,
An over big top, some sneakers,
And a cap on your head,

You run down the stairs,
With a “Good heavens!”,
your mother, turns to you and says,

Dress like a girl for once,
Wear something to show you are a young woman!
With a sigh and a “yes mother...”

You run back up and change your clothes,

Dressed in a tight blue jean,
A fancy little short shirt, new shoes,
Hair hanging lose,

You run down the stairs,
This time with a “Hold on young lady”,
Your father, grabs your arm and says,

You look all grown up,
You are not going out like that!
Change your clothes.

Your parents...
Capable of making really simple things,
Really complicated!

Parents have a funny way of tearing their children apart. We spend a lifetime trying to compensate, and then do the same.

Hi Najade,

Yeah, parents are a drag.   Just ask my kids.  And it will be fun watching them deal with their own kids.  Some people might call that nature's revenge.  :-)

LOL This poem makes me recall the days, but at least you get to wear pants to school now! We couldn't!  Your poem describes parents changing ideas-like make up your mind!  Well done.
