...You correctly got THAT; It went with the other holidays (but who's noting & keepin' score) when they come 'round & someone echoes you...  Calen Dar, the keeper of the days, I believe loves children & eschews anyone 'bove the age of 17, as he stretches Time (Summers used to be eternities!) for kids & distills It for the others.

I would imagine 40 years traipsing thru the desert searching for the Land of Milk & Honey was not a holiday jaunt, sour-bitter herb -  H'H.

Hello DE - Thanks for weighing-in; as I understand It, gibbet is a "gallows," &/or as verb-intransitive, "to execute, to brand?"  My meaning in L9 is simply as a synonym for morsel/collup...what say you?

Are not the vox populi the mirrors of the L25 denouement?  Wood that they would "stand alone."

H'H.

Hello singodsuperior - Quite the I.D.,welcome; I am new-oldie, posting again after a hiatus; thank you for the comment - sometimes laconic speaks more-loudly.   H'H.

DE - MWC provides several boards for thread options; I began posting in '07, some hiatus' due to the expected conflicts which I simply did not want to further engage; well, serious poetry & poets will out, the dross was excised by administration/moderators & I found my way to return.  You will encounter several savvyests; as with any site devoted to crit., there will be the inevitable attempted ego-wounders & wounded.  Overall, I believe you'll find It to be a flavorful, new blood...experience.

As for the "flawlessly-great" quality of your work, do not out-of-hand dismiss my, from the jump, approbations of same; your favorites of the recognized "greats" are also parcel of mine, to whom I must add G.M. Hopkins, Anne Sexton, Richard Brautigan, John Ashbery, Joseph Brodsky, Philip Larkin & Sylvia Plath.  I fully understand your dilemma re: the uninterestings about..."A Doggerel Bark" attacked this.   H'H.

As this is on my poem's page, I'll weigh in. I am only privy to comments, at this writing, I have engendered or those which have solicited a response; emel, I did have an inkling re: the tenor of your poem, notwithstanding the obvious take on writers & writing, but chose to obviate a reply for that sentience.  I do thank you, however, for your "visceral" reaction/response to my work.  For me, a certain intangible emerges & I am drawn into a piece, sometimes with repeated frequency (the Classics, of course are the quintessential model).

DE - Again, thank you for the mixed approbations; that my willingness/penchant for invention construes for you as you claim is humbling.  There is more to writing effective poetry than risk, however the willingness to stretch & stretch...is an essential component of the total equation; have you ever considered posting to My Writers Circle (MWC)? -   H'H.

…the hour’s 7
in the threads of a nearing
gibbous Moon i am
struck by the stealth dark as Poe
like a sable edith head

sleek & chic to the
edge narrow & whiter than
alabast blacker
than g-men she steals to the
gobbets harvesting the dark

wary-perched as a
pouncescape cooler than the breeze
rain puddles waltzes
like the moonlight sonata
to her miaowmusic through

from the greenery
my retreat from the treating
she like a train as
long as the night re-treating
the collops in thwart of a

shortened life feraled
& kittened small matter this

DE - I am intuiting this is (partially) directed toward me?, given our latest go-'rounds on the other channel; well, in defense of the indefensible, the 1st. time I heard Stravinsky ("Le Sacre Du Printemps"), the 1st. time I recall my own observation of the rite of Spring, I know what I felt, did not know why I felt It (& yet don't), but overwhelmingly blissed, like a prebubescent with those unexplainable/unmatched urgings?  If for nothing else, brother (& perhaps this is the essential?) the stirrings in the needlessly, indefinable places; I sing quite well for myself all the time, orotund enough to garner echoes from the Universe; as for the wolves, that howl ain't my meat, but hey, in a democracy, vegans run with the thrinters & happily so.   H'H.

emel - Possibly a noble aspiration (respiration/expiration?), however, as you have already lived in knowledge (savvy - "ignorance" from the root ignore), seems fruitless, if-not-foolish-hearty, to ascribe to else?  However, your pennies & dog tags are your own affair to auction, etc.   H'H.

DE & emel - There arose a buzzing, like a mellifluous tinnitus, & I immediately suppoeted It was generating from here...well imagine my surprise & chagrin to learn I (my work) am not only being barkered to prospectives, but needing to inform, "NOT knowing" can have deleterious consequences for the uninformed (what's the going rate?) -   H'H.

emel - Certainly you're welcome; well, with my work, I always "bet" onto sure things; I am pleased to see this comment, as we are the lone wolves, a renegade pack (of two).  When my work begins to become clear for you, I am confident you will have an...experience.  If you can access Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/notes/he-mantel/-noun-an-forever-/10150713036121103) there are "keys" which may further your understanding to this end, G*d permit.   H'H.

emel - Flat-out, I like your poem (not simply a FB "click," here); normally, I would be speculative re: this rhyme scheme in regard to my own work - only employ as an affectation; but in the context of this poem which is spot-on, It works a) for the delivery of the message, b) because you have treated the model with respect & accord for what, as you have stated, pleases you.

"Sing-songy" has Its roots in the arts for as long as arts have been extant - primal chanting, minnesingers, troubadours, oppressed cultures, children's rhymes, et al - happy, & sad are boundary-less expressions of humans.

As for your take on my work, if the indulgence is to only read, without reading me, that is appreciation enough 'til the meanings more-clearly reveal.     H'H.

Btw, your 4 line (almost) limerick is a hoot!

emel - I get you here; if a chuckle is in the offing, It's as dark as the house of Usher; if altered rhyme is an advocacy, It's sophistry.  Your rhetorical question is answered (as in "A Doggerel Bark"), they're here.   H'H.
