Dennis Barnes’ poems in his recently published book are moments taken from his personal life, like photographs. Though the poems do contain a wealth of images, it is the thoughts and emotions, very personal, that are depicted. Sometimes the images are symbols; at other times, they are well-placed factual details that bring a scene and an emotion to life. There is sadness. There is joy. All the inner workings that tumble through a person, doubt, pride, love, are contained in these very readable, and, often, unforgettable poems. |
